Climate tech sessions at Vancouver Startup Week!
What is planned
Working on a couple of interesting projects and one of them is setting up Climate Tech sessions at Vancouver Startup Week 2023.
We (currently a team of 2+ people) are working on getting an interesting event ready.
All of the following events will be held at UBC Robison Square in the Entrepreneurship@UBC coworking space.
June 2 (Fri) 15:00 - 16:30: General carbon reduction pitch event
Planning to have 5 or so startups showcase what they have been working on. If you are interested in Climate Tech, this would be a great session to join to learn what is going on in Vancouver regarding Climate Tech. Carbon reduction startups in varieties of industries such as transportation, construction, and agriculture, will be presenting their exciting projects!
June 5 (Mon) 14:00 - 15:30: Energy Panel
We will have a session dedicated to energy solutions. As you know, one of the most important carbon reductions that we can make is to move away from generating energy from fossil fuels. We will cover not only energy generation but also solutions to store and transfer energy efficiently. The whole energy grid needs to be efficient to reduce carbon. I am sure we can learn something new at this panel session!
June 6 (Tue): 14:00 - 15:30: Direct Carbon Removal/Storage panel
This session is my personal interest. As much as we can reduce the carbon emitted, I personally believe that won't be enough. We also need to actively reduce the carbon that is already out in the air. There are some interesting projects around the world that are working on this. And some of them are from Vancouver!
These are the 3 events we are planning. Already a lot of preparing!
Why am I doing this?
As many know, I am new to Vancouver. (Just moved in July 2021.)
I want to get more involved with Climate Tech and I thought that organizing an event would be a great way to get to know more people.
What I need
We are currently a 2+ people team (as of April 12th). It would be great if anyone who is interested could join us. The more people involved, the better the event and the more we can do.
So if you are interested, drop me a DM through twitter/LinkedIn/Facebook/YouTube.
Hope to see you all at the event!
