Creating videos with WeVideo

Creating videos with WeVideo
My WeVideo screen! I spent at least 3 hours on this today!

I've been creating videos using WeVideo it's a new tool that I've been exploring and I want to talk a bit about it.

When I started creating videos I started off using iMovies because I am a Mac User. iMovies was pretty simple and it was easy to use but quickly I hit it’s limits. It's really hard to put text on top of videos. For example if you were to put the script on the bottom of the video, that would require a lot of work. (A lot of Japanese YouTube videos have the script in the video.) Or adding new pictures on top of videos. It was frustrating and trying to get the script onto a video was very hard, so eventually outsourced the video editing process.

But since I'm doing a new project, I've decided to start on my own and see what I can do. Doing a little bit of research I found a few tools that seem to be very useful.

  • Davinci Resolve
  • VN Video Editor
  • Filmora
  • Final Cut
  • Adobe Premiere Pro
  • WeVideo

For the research this YouTube video from Justin Brown - Primal Video helped a lot! Thank you Justin for all your wonderful videos!

WeVideo is a video editing software that you can use on the web so you don't need to install anything, just go through the browser and start working on it. It's pretty straightforward!

Adding videos, adding music, adding pictures into your video, and  you can use green screen and remove the background! A lot of things that iMovie couldn’t do!

So it's been very interesting and understanding the functionality of WeVideo I've been able to do more but I'm in the middle of the learning curve so there's much more to learn! And cracking all the video takes a lot of time. I probably spent, I don't know, probably 5 hours or 6 hours in total to get one video that's 6 minutes long out!

So hopefully I'll be learning faster and I can produce videos much quicker, so stay tuned and if you have any recommendations of any other tools that might be handy. Please let me know!
